Hello all. Just wanted to give you all a little update on how our first couple of weeks in VA have been. We are all moved in and unpacked in our new house in Suffolk, VA. We are about 10 miles (15 min) from the Naval Hospital where Paul will be working. I might try to find a part-time job until the baby is born (around Thanksgiving). Although we are loving our new house, we are already getting homesick for our friends and family. Hopefully we will start meeting some people around here soon! I had my first pregnancy visit just before we moved. For those of you who have been asking, I am feeling much better (no more queasy stomach), and I have not gained any weight yet so I can't send any pictures of my big fat belly since I don't have one yet! The weather here has been very inconsistent so far. It was rainy and cold, then sunny and 75, then rainy and humid, and now it's hot (close to 90) and humid. I guess that's pretty typical for this area. Paul and I attempted to go see Virginia Beach yesterday, but by the time we got there it was pouring rain so all we did was eat lunch and then drive back home. At least the food was good! We are leaving today for a last-minute four-day camping trip to the western part of VA. We will start at the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway (between Waynesboro and Charlottesville, VA) and work our way down through the foothills of the Appalachians to Roanoke before heading back home. Along the way we plan to canoe on the James River, visit the Natural Bridge, hike a small portion of the Appalachian Trail (to McAfee Knob), and make numerous stops at overlooks and hiking trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our 2-year wedding anniversary is on Tuesday so we will celebrate it on the road!

It's been almost 5 months since my last update, so my guilt has finally motivated me enough to get another one written. I got so used to writing about our moving and traveling adventures that it is difficult to just write about everyday stuff now that residency is keeping us in one place! Back in July, Paul was fortunate enough to only have to work one shift over 4th of July weekend. We decided to go up to my parent's place on Mille Lacs Lake (where I spent my summers growing up). It was little surreal being able to do the things with my own kids that I did as a kid on the same lake that I did them (fishing, tubing & skiing, playing on the lake shore, etc). And there is nothing that makes me still feel young more than doing active things that require some physical skill (such as water skiing). Unfortunately I only caught one fish, but I guess that's better than getting skunked! We were also able to go to my parent's other house in South Haven a couple weeks after t...
South-Eastern US Road Trip: 12/19-/20
Day's: 8-the end Florida Sorry this is such a long time in coming. :( We finally reached warm weather! But it wasn't quite as warm as we expected, the avg. for the first few days we high 60's. But, as the week went on, it got up to the 80's, and on Christmas Eve, it was 85!!! The first few days in Florida, we visited St. Augustine, several lighthouses and beaches, and even toured the Daytona Speedway! We stayed a few days on Daytona Beach, and while there, Kade found a jellyfish in the water. Next, we drove all the way to Key West, then all the way back up and to the Everglades. In the Everglades we went to a small zoo and watched an alligator show. Immediately after that, we had an exhilarating ride on an airboat. While zooming past blood mangrove trees and spinning in 180 degree turns, we also saw an alligator and lots of fish. On and near the Crystal river we visited a manatee sanctuary /zoo and later that day at a public beach/park, we swam with some wild manatees!(...
