Just wanted to report to those who don't already know that we bought a house! I went back to MN on 4/3 and had a signed purchase agreement three days later!!! Although I can't even stand the thought of having to leave San Diego, knowing we have a great house to move into helps me cope. Paul was home with the two older kids (yes, he survived on his own for 10 days), so he hasn't even seen it yet. I was able to take a video of the house for him though so he has at least gotten a virtual tour.

It's so hard to believe we only have 42 days left before we move. I swear we just unpacked our boxes (oh wait, we did just unpack our boxes!). We're headed up to LA this weekend. Paul is going to the CrossFit games qualifier (surprise surprise) and I am going to Mamma Mia with a girlfriend. Then on Sunday we are going to check out Saddleback Church (home of Pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life). The following week we have two different sets of friends coming into town, and then the first weekend in May we are going to try out the trapeze again. We had so much fun the first time we went that we decided we'd have to do it again before we moved. The second weekend in May we have to move all our stuff from our storage unit to our garage to get ready to pack the moving truck. Miraculously enough we have no plans for the third weekend in May (yet), and then my parents come out the Thursday before Memorial weekend to help with the kids while we pack up and to drive a vehicle back to MN for us. We will spend Memorial weekend loading the moving truck and then after what is sure to be a tear-filled going away party with our small group we will roll out on Memorial Day via AZ (where we hope to visit our Phoenix friends one last time).

It's been almost 5 months since my last update, so my guilt has finally motivated me enough to get another one written. I got so used to writing about our moving and traveling adventures that it is difficult to just write about everyday stuff now that residency is keeping us in one place! Back in July, Paul was fortunate enough to only have to work one shift over 4th of July weekend. We decided to go up to my parent's place on Mille Lacs Lake (where I spent my summers growing up). It was little surreal being able to do the things with my own kids that I did as a kid on the same lake that I did them (fishing, tubing & skiing, playing on the lake shore, etc). And there is nothing that makes me still feel young more than doing active things that require some physical skill (such as water skiing). California Trip 11/24/22

Day 5 This morning we started our day by driving to see the Painted Ladies in San Francisco. Next, we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge, stopped briefly, then went back across. After that, we stopped at the Palace of Fine Arts, and while there, we walked around the manmade pond and fascinating architecture. Following that, we went to the Wave Organ and got a nice view of the GGB and of Alcatraz Island. Then, we drove down Lombard Street again on the way to Pier 39. We parked about a block away from the pier, and the parking was free because of Thanksgiving! A couple of things we saw there were seals, musical stairs, a crepe shop, a Christmas tree, and an old railroad ramp. We walked around for a while and eventually decided to catch a streetcar (twice) before heading back to our car. As we rounded the corner to our block, we noticed our empty suitcase sitting at a bus stop. Someone (most likely a homeless person) had burned the cords that were tying it down, taking our air mattresses

Hello all. Just wanted to give you all a little update on how our first couple of weeks in VA have been. We are all moved in and unpacked in our new house in Suffolk, VA. We are about 10 miles (15 min) from the Naval Hospital where Paul will be working. I might try to find a part-time job until the baby is born (around Thanksgiving). Although we are loving our new house, we are already getting homesick for our friends and family. Hopefully we will start meeting some people around here soon! I had my first pregnancy visit just before we moved. For those of you who have been asking, I am feeling much better (no more queasy stomach), and I have not gained any weight yet so I can't send any pictures of my big fat belly since I don't have one yet! The weather here has been very inconsistent so far. It was rainy and cold, then sunny and 75, then rainy and humid, and now it's hot (close to 90) and humid.
