South-Eastern US Road Trip: 12/13/20

Day 2: 

Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky.

Upon waking up, we ate breakfast, packed the car, and left for the creation museum in Kentucky. On the way, we went through Cincinnati, Ohio. We drove up Mt. Adams, then drove across the Ohio River on a cool suspended bridge. After crossing, we were in Kentucky. We got to the creation museum a little early and were one of the first people in. We got the combo pass for the creation museum and the ark encounter which we are doing tomorrow. The museum had lots of exhibits about tons of stuff. Creation vs Evolution, The Seven C's of History (Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, Consummation), the first and last Adam, dinosaurs, life, and much more. The art and designs of the entire museum were amazing!

 We saw the film "The Last Adam", a 4-D film called "In Six Days", and listened to a presentation about dinosaurs in the bible by Bryan Osborne (author of Quick Answers to Tough Questions). At 5:00 the Christmas lights were turned on so we walked around outside including a floating bridge and listened to "Anna" from the Jesus story. After that, we drove 45 minutes to the Ark Encounter for their Christmas lights since the lights are closed on Monday and Tuesday. There we saw a presentation on African animals and a Christmas concert!

It's been almost 5 months since my last update, so my guilt has finally motivated me enough to get another one written. I got so used to writing about our moving and traveling adventures that it is difficult to just write about everyday stuff now that residency is keeping us in one place! Back in July, Paul was fortunate enough to only have to work one shift over 4th of July weekend. We decided to go up to my parent's place on Mille Lacs Lake (where I spent my summers growing up). It was little surreal being able to do the things with my own kids that I did as a kid on the same lake that I did them (fishing, tubing & skiing, playing on the lake shore, etc). And there is nothing that makes me still feel young more than doing active things that require some physical skill (such as water skiing). California Trip 11/24/22

Day 5 This morning we started our day by driving to see the Painted Ladies in San Francisco. Next, we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge, stopped briefly, then went back across. After that, we stopped at the Palace of Fine Arts, and while there, we walked around the manmade pond and fascinating architecture. Following that, we went to the Wave Organ and got a nice view of the GGB and of Alcatraz Island. Then, we drove down Lombard Street again on the way to Pier 39. We parked about a block away from the pier, and the parking was free because of Thanksgiving! A couple of things we saw there were seals, musical stairs, a crepe shop, a Christmas tree, and an old railroad ramp. We walked around for a while and eventually decided to catch a streetcar (twice) before heading back to our car. As we rounded the corner to our block, we noticed our empty suitcase sitting at a bus stop. Someone (most likely a homeless person) had burned the cords that were tying it down, taking our air mattresses

Hello all. Just wanted to give you all a little update on how our first couple of weeks in VA have been. We are all moved in and unpacked in our new house in Suffolk, VA. We are about 10 miles (15 min) from the Naval Hospital where Paul will be working. I might try to find a part-time job until the baby is born (around Thanksgiving). Although we are loving our new house, we are already getting homesick for our friends and family. Hopefully we will start meeting some people around here soon! I had my first pregnancy visit just before we moved. For those of you who have been asking, I am feeling much better (no more queasy stomach), and I have not gained any weight yet so I can't send any pictures of my big fat belly since I don't have one yet! The weather here has been very inconsistent so far. It was rainy and cold, then sunny and 75, then rainy and humid, and now it's hot (close to 90) and humid.
