South-Western US Road Trip: 12/24/21

Day 8

Arizona, California

We had more fresh grapefruit and some oatmeal for breakfast and then left our friend’s house and headed for San Diego, California. After lots of mountain roads, and some really expensive gas ($5.399 per gallon, and exactly $100 for our tank), we arrived at our lodging for the next few nights (the house of an old friend while they were on vacation). They had an orange tree and a kumquat tree, along with a hot tub. After a quick dinner, we went to our old church (Eastlake Church) for a Christmas Eve service and saw several familiar faces. After that, we drove past another friend's house because their street had lots of Christmas lights, then back to our “home”. Then we made and ate our Christmas meal of Knefla (depression soup), and then tried out the hot tub (it was very relaxing) and went to bed.
