South-Western US Road Trip: 12/21/21

 Day 5

Arizona

After packing up, we drove to Bell Rock on the outskirts of Sedona. We had to park at a different lot because it was so busy, but still enjoyed a nice hike with plenty of climbing (or in Kade's case sliding). Next, we visited the ruins at Tuzigoot. It was interesting to read about the city (if you can call it that) that used to be there and the remarkable excavation and restoration that took place. Then we went to a place called Constellation Trails. The rock there had way more grip than anywhere else, so you could practically walk up most slopes. Everyone enjoyed scrambling up and down and seeing interesting rock formations. We lost the trail several times, but continued around a small peak and looped back to our car. While there, we also saw some plants called manzanitas (or bearberries) with dark red/brown stems and little hard berry-shaped fruits. We stayed at a relative's house in Spring Valley.
