South-Western US Road Trip: 12/26/21

Day 10

California

At about 10:00 this morning, we left our “house” headed for the same friends with all the Christmas lights from Christmas Eve. On the way, we stopped at both of our old houses, and Otay reservoir where the Olympic rowers practice. After arriving at their house, we were greeted by two excited dogs that accidentally knocked over and broke a glass jar, and yummy homemade chocolate mints. We decided to go ice skating with the kids at a mall, while Alana stayed and talked with her friends. After arriving at the UTC mall, we headed straight for the ice skating rink. While it was a little pricey ($25 a person for all-day access), we enjoyed showing off our skating skills while trying to teach/help our native Californian friends (who had rarely skated). Once we were tired of skating, we went to get lunch (delicious tortellini at Noodles Co) and followed our friends shopping for a short while. Then we went back to ice skating until we had to leave, shopped a little bit more, and went back to their house. While we were gone, homemade bread, butter, and jam had been set out, so we enjoyed several pieces and talked until dark, then went grocery shopping on our drive “home”. After a quick meal and the hot tub again, we went to bed.
